Abstract

The importance of the relation between Christian ethics and the integrity of education in the context of the continuing secularization of society
In general, nowadays, the education system is strongly influenced and dominated by the process of secularization. Beyond the advantages such an approach could bring, there are visible disadvantages that resulted from the sometimes “forced” separation of education from the principles of Christian ethics, which, we will demonstrate, are interconnected. In fact, the present research aims precisely to demonstrate the almost irrevocable link that existed between education and Christian values in the Middle Ages and modernity, the link that can be presented either as a universally recognized truism or as a foundation for contemporary education. Scholars note that Christian values favored and drove education at key historical stages, such as the emergence of universities. The reaffirmation of such truths should not be treated as a simple process of anamnesis, but rather a source of inspiration, whereby the return to the values of Christian ethics could be considered a possible solution to the decline of academic quality in many university centers.
