Abstract

The status of religious education in European education systems.
The status of religious-moral education in European countries is determined by a multitude of factors including:
1. National tradition and religious tradition.
2. The relationship between state and Church.
3.The relationship between school and religious education in the light of the particularities of the education system.
The way in which the State relates to the Church definitely influences the relations established between the school as a public institution and religious education. The relationship between the state and the church and the assumption of responsibility for religious education by one of the two bodies can determine the approach to religious education: denominational or non-denominational. Specialists in the field point out that the two approaches are not firmly demarcated, which is why we can speak of the predominance of the denominational or non-denominational approach.
