Challenges posed by modern culture to religious faith.
The main challenge that modern culture offers to the Christian faith is that the former is itself the fruit of a historical-cultural process deeply influenced by the Christian faith. In many ways, modern culture is a sophisticated one, containing a wide variety of expressions and processes of religious experience, remarkable for its adaptability and surprising openness to absorb, clarify and unite people. However, at the present time, it appears in many cases as a faithless culture, a culture willfully disconnected from the faith that gave it life, and thus, in fact, appears as a fragile culture that encourages individualism, ingratitude and isolation from God. This study presents the three concepts needed by the Orthodox missionary in analyzing the relationship between culture and the Christian faith with the aim of enriching the preaching act of the Church of Christ. The subject is of course very large and complex, so the study will only offer brief introductory reflections.
